How Does Ruminate Work?

Create thought bubbles

Simply double-tap to create a space for your thoughts, information you find online, or a combination of the two.

Add web information and track sources

Create a bubble and tap the web tab to bring up the browser:

Tap the Import URL button directly to the right of the address bar to save the current website URL to your thought bubble.
Select text and tap the import option on the pop-up menu to directly quote the text in your outline.

Organize and arrange your thoughts

Drag from the linking tab to another bubble to link the two, or drag to an empty space in the canvas to create a new bubble. To break a link, just repeat the action between two linked bubbles.

Customize the Bubbles

Touch and hold on a bubble (without the keyboard active) to bring up that bubble's menu. From there, you can color, emphasize, or delete the bubble.

Set the order

Tapping the numbered tab brings Ruminate into ordering mode, from here you can:

Clear the order from a single bubble by tapping it once; tapping it again assigns it the next highest unassigned order.
Drag from one bubble to another to swap their order.
Shake your iPad to clear the order of all the tabs, allowing you to re-order from scratch.

Export your completed outline

Tap the export button to turn your outline into a text file. All of your thoughts and sources are laid out just as you arranged them, waiting for you to turn them into a paper, a report, a novel, or anything else you wish to create.
